Um...if your parents are fine with it. I'm a few years older than you and they're threatening to shave my head if I did highlights.

And black hair, as in pure black, deep brown, or blue black? If it's brownish, then go with red or blonde highlights. If it's blue black, blues, and if it's pure black, whatever you feel like. The great thing about having black hair is that anything goes with it.

That said, don't forget you have to bleach it and be mean to it, and bleach and chemicals are never good for your hair.

So you could always try the temporary kind, like the Manic Panic dyes. I think they only last a week or so, if you want to try out colors. But once again, it's up to you and your parents.

i'm not sure about the age requirement, but highlights usually don't look that good in black hair. If you really want some though, the only color that might look okay is probably a dark copper-red color. my friend has highlights like that in her black hair and it looks all right.

I don't think you're old enough personally 11 is too young, I think 13 or 14 seems about the right age. I don't think there are many choices for hilights for black hair, none come to mind at least lol, unless your going to get a bold color like bleach blond (double layer thing), fire engine red or something

Ya you're old enough.I wouldn't get highlights if I were you though.You'll love them at first but in a month or 2 they usually look really ugly and dry out your hair.Plus,depending on how long your hair is,they can take forever to grow out!

If your hair is black it can often be difficult to dye it certain colours and seeing as you are only 11 you may end up regretting the colour change and ruining your hair. At such a young age you may be better off waiting a few years but if you really are desperate then try a red shade or a lighter brown shade so that it does not look too harsh as blonde would

Hmm...at around your age, I started playing with hair color. I started with auburn streaks (I have dark black hair naturally) with my shoulder-length hair and my brother tipped his hair with blond (and spiked it). If you want, go to the drug store and wander to the hair dye section. Compare a bit of your hair next to the swatches of colored hair they have to see which one looks the most interesting.

Be sure your parents are fine with the color and that your school isn't going to freak out. I know that where I am, younger students aren't allowed unnatural hair colors.
