When you get highlights, it is permanent, so when your hair grows, you will see your roots. If you want to cover your roots, then yes you will have to keep highlighting. If you don't like the highlight then you can just dye your hair back to match your natural color. On dark auburn hair, a honey or caramel highlight would look pretty and wouldn't look as harsh as bleach blonde would. Highlighting your hair is bleaching it, so yes that is damaging, but they have special color care shampoos now to help restore the processed hair. long term yes dont get into habbit unless u can eal with growing it out and really looking stupid for 6 months till its gone natural is best wait till u older it will show then dry, bitty and hard to cope with

well no it won't damage your hair. you can keep getting it highlighted if you don't want your roots to look dorky. and if u have dark hair don't pick blonde pick a red or lighter brown. keep it natural looking.

highlights dont "damage" your hair as long as you dont bleach it. usually it will just make it dry for a couple of days.

they don't damage your hair anymore like they used to do...as for how long they last: they will get lighter within 1 month...a nice color for dark hair that I like is "copper" ...you'll have to highlight them about every 2 months because of the roots. Just use a shampoo for colored hair.

yeah it does after a while but dont die ur hair too much make sure it doesn't touch the root of ur hair that much cause thats what messes it up
